Well, some disagree but I like ASMLIB and find it easy to use. With regard to the luns per disk group, that kind of depends on the underlying storage. Most of the time you have an underlying SAN that is already taking care of the mirroring and striping so it doesnt make a huge amount of difference. If they are actual physical disks, you need enough to distribute the load and allow for redundancy, so I would say at least 3. I like to see at least 5 dsk groups, data, flash, OCR (high redundancy group), redo1 and redo 2 (for mirroring the redo logs). But thats just me, I am not sure what the best practices say these days.
