Having troouble installing Oracle Ent Linux 5.4 video crashing

I know this is not a database question - but Im in the process of doing a local rac setup following Jeff Hunters paper. Im using OEL 5.4 and when the installer correctly detects the video card as Intell built in something - The screen goes black and the system is hung from there

Ive tried this on Dell Optiplex GX 280 & Dimension 4700 - same behavior - crash
I installed in text mode and then use startx - same crash Ive tried parameters passed to the kernel at boot which normally correct this type of error but its not correcting this.
My next machine doesn't have a dvd drive so I'm creating a iso usb stick and will try that on my dimension 3100 Im hoping once I get one - I can image to the others.
But has anyone dealt with the video probe just crashing the a linux install like this?
