G'day,

I'm applying PSU April2013 (11.2.0.3.6) to a new Oracle installation on a new AIX 7.1 LPAR. OPatch seems to succeed, but spews out hundreds of warnings like the following:

ld: 0711-224 WARNING: Duplicate symbol: p_xrcfg
ld: 0711-224 WARNING: Duplicate symbol: p_xrc
ld: 0711-345 Use the -bloadmap or -bnoquiet option to obtain more
information.

   ld: 0711-773 WARNING: Object
/oracle/base/product/11.2.0.3/lib//libpls11.a[psikgsf.o], imported symbol kgumsfp

Symbol was expected to be local. Extra instructions
are being generated to reference the symbol.

I've found a few blogs that simply state "ignore these", but no indication why. Do these warnings have any substance, or is the advice to ignore them justified? This system is meant to support EMCC 12c.

Cheers,
Tony
