ISM with large 4M pages in Solaris has been available since Solaris 6. In Richard McDougal's book, "Solaris Internals Core Kernel Architecture", which was published in 2001, there is a TPC-C reference for Oracle with 12% performance improvement with 4M pages.

Then why is it that >7 years ago I mentioned it here and was told it was not recommended to be used with Oracle? It could well be because Oracle hadn't yet bought Sun...
I also recall using a E10K in a project between 19999 and 2001 when we were told point blank by both Sun and Oracle that it was not available. Then again that was Oracle 8i, so maybe that was the reason?
