Environment : Oracle 11.2.0.2 on exadata Linux 2.6 We had one storage cell go south. Oracle took almost 24 hours to replace bad parts. Meanwhile disk_repair_time exceeded, disks were dropped and rebalance started. The rebalance is still going on and estimated time to completion is 20 hours.

Meanwhile the storage cell was repaired and disks are back, but the disks cannot be added to diskgroup until rebalance is completed. I know once disks are added back it will trigger another rebalance with will run for lot longer. Increasing rebalance power has performance impact on the database.

We stopped the rebalance by changing the power to 0 and tried to add disk but resulted in ORA-15074.

alter diskgroup DATA_DG01 add disk

'............',  '..........',
'..............', '...........',
'............'  REBALANCE POWER 4;

*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-15032: not all alterations performed ORA-15074: diskgroup DATA_DG01 requires rebalance completion

My question: Is there any way to terminate the rebalance and add disks to the diskgroup?

Thank you in advance.
