Hmmm. This was the solution offered by Oracle Support in response to the example I gave them - in my original Oracle-L post. I have had people say they can send mail, but not yet anyone to reproduce my example.

So I do not know why you can do it and I cannot (except as SYS).

fwiw,

I am using utl_mail to send email daily (well tue-sat) with EOD run status via a package. The package gets called via a trigger on status table. This worked well in 10204 and now in 11202. We are upgrading to 11203 in few days, but in testing it worked well. I am not using authid clause in my package.
