Folks,
Do any of your production setups use JFS2 Snapshot for backing up database on a daily basis?. I know a setup where they are using this (Weekly Cold backup...yes weekly)and snapshots are created during backups and from the snapshot they write to tape. I understand that the snapshot is not a full functional/full sized clone and can be in a clone mode only till a fixed overflow area becomes full (say 6 hours) and after that the snapshot becomes invalidated and hence they are looking to buy a tape library to finising thier tape backup in 6 hours.
I am pushing for RMAN and reuse existing tape but they seem to have a liking for JFS2 snapshots,
any insights/horror stories would be appriciated
Best Regards
