V$asm_disk is supposed to dynamically query the disk on the os which should include all disks it has "permissions" to see regardless if they are in a diskgroup or not (which means that it would read disk headers every time you use that view). If trussing the rbal process does not give any more info then there is one os tool that might help. Bmore (http://bvi.sourceforge.net/bmore.html ) ... You should be able to read the header of the disk to determine if they were part of the diskgroup or not (the ones in /dev/rdsk/* directory). A somewhat tedious process but maybe helpful?
