Is the application executing some PL/SQL code with objects in other schemas AND has permissions to those objects through a role as opposed to directly?

Can you show us the SQL or PL/SQL that is failing?

Hmmm, that probably discounts the role privs in PL/SQL then, if a
restart solved it.
