Those Ask Tom pages are always good to read through, my answer was really right at the end, look at v$sga_dynamic_free_memory. Also I'll check the advice views. In this particular system Oracle has been given too much memory, even though the server has over 250GB, Oracle is not as Tom has said "the only game in town". I am just checking that I am not about to shoot myself in the foot given the AMM configuration, the use of which of course means that huge pages is not an option. Thanks for the link though,it jogged my memory that using HugePages should always be considered, because it may be once this server's memory allocation is under control, I might get the time to move to an ASMM model, which I have used in other places.
