We have planned maintenance windows for our um... Windows db servers. That gives us the ability to apply security updates every month.

On our AIX systems, we generally only reboot when there is an issue with PDOS (protecting ourselves from ourselves) or when a lifecycle happens. Those 2 times would put us at 2-3 times a year for a reboot.

Correction/clarification to my previous post - on the Windows boxes, they do have scheduled maintenance to reboot for applying Windows patches, but not just for proactive therapeutic/performance purposes.
