I'm not sure what you define as a "raw Windows 7 Home install" as installing Oracle server would come after installing Windows patches, software updates, driver updates, bios updates, anti-virus etc (none of which are prereqs for installing Oracle of course).

Are you talking about installing Oracle server on Windows 7 Home PC to be used by other PCs on your network? If so, then I could see that being an issue probably. I'm not sure why you would 'want' to do that however.

Interesting.

And you have the Database Control working as well? And the automatic maintenance jobs? Or other functionality that requires the network connection (such as JDBC to the host, since loopback adapter is not installed, and may not be installable), rather than the bequeath adapter.

As I say, I have been involved in a number of "I can't install and it's Windows XYZ Home", and it usually has traced down to network settings, and security settings, that are not normally exposed in the non-Professional editions.

And my apologies - it's "logon as batch job" not "run as batch job". http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms813942.aspx That has been required for some capabilities, and it can be a challenge to add a user to use that priv.
