It seems that asmadmin is the correct group ...

Could you please check if there are errors related to the database alert
log (grep -i error emagent_perl.trc)
in the emagent_perl.trc file in <agent_home>/<deployment>/sysman/logs
(if such file exists of course, I don't have any experience with GC 10g)?
