Just expanding on what Niall said about Oracle's definition of SME...

I think this is a very important point. Oracle make their big money on big enterprise companies. One Exadata box is worth a lot more to them in terms of initial sales and long term support contracts, than many SE installations.

When Oracle say SME (or SMB), they are talking about much bigger companies, with much bigger budgets than many of us work for/with. That's not a bad thing. You've just got to understand that if you think your local independent sandwich bar is an SME, you are not reading from the same page as Oracle.

If a customer buying an Exadata is considered a Large Enterprise, then those that can only just afford an ODA are very much small enterprises. :)
