It's best to supply a short code example to make your meaning completely clear - but the answer to the question you probably asked is yes. The /*+ append */ hint cannot be honoured if there are enabled foreign key constraints in place.

| I did some tests and I noticed that if the table has FKs, insert append
| agaisnt it does not place mode 6 lock, instead it uses the normal mode 2
| and 3 lock mode, is this a bug?
