Oracle 11.2.0.2 gen0 process

Last night we saw (I mean really saw) a gen0 process blocked by a user session performing a distributed transaction in our RAC db. Unfortunately neither Oracle nor interwebs are very helpful on what this gen0 process is. Does anyone know more on what that process is? I also saw there are couple of bugs (oeri:1433) with this process, so wanted to understand more. Thanks in advance
