RMAN from Single to RAC instance

Hi,
I was wondering if it is easy to migrate an database in single instance to RAC+ASM using RMAN.
Is it recommended using this method for any case??

My db has around 1 TB and I have the whole weekend to proceed with it. Does anyone have any tutorial or quick reference where I can check to have an idea how to proceed?

platform: HP-UX (both)
Version: 11.1.0.7 (both)
