slightly OT: Difference between QPI and HT

this might be slightly off topic, so apologies in advance.

I have researched Intel QPI and AMD et al. Hyper Transport. Both seem to be pretty similar and what the vendors claim they are doing. However to me it's not entirely clear where the difference is-besides that you get one with Intel, and the other one with AMD chips. I would greatly appreciate any pointers.
