Actually, I remember Graham Wood's (the man behind ASH) presentation where he used integral symbol. ASH snapshots are used to aproximately calculate the integral which represents the real workload over time interval. dx (better dt) in this case is 10 seconds :) Once you know the theory it's quite easy to remember things :)
