Alan,
Do you mean you want to restore a database to a point in time prior to the current time - like restore a database to yesterday at 3PM?
The answer is yes - but you lose everything that happened after 3PM yesterday.
Rman Point in Time Recovery Class 101.

Subject: RMAN - Rewind Backup to SCN/Point-in-Time
Hello List,
Is it possible to take an RMAN backup (full or incremental level 0) and rewind it, rollback to a SCN or point-in-time within the controlfile's CONTROL_FILE_RECORD_KEEP_TIME window?
Database is 9.2.0.8 and in Archivelog mode.
Cheers,
- Alan Sterger
