So, this is Fail Safe configuration - I ran through the same steps on Node 2 that I did on Node 1 (not knowing that Node 1 was going to give me an issue).

Funny thing is - Node 2 works, Node 1 does not.

The only difference is - on Node 1 I configured a new TNSListener service in the Windows services to run out of the 11g home (giving the 10559 error). I deleted it from the cluster but left it in the windows services.

Now I'm wondering if having that service setup could be causing this weird behavior.

If it is, I'm going to be pissed that something so minor would cause failsafe to break on one node.

I had already verified that pieces from different Oracle homes could actually run together in the same cluster so that shouldn't be the issue but I wonder...

Subject: Oracle Failsafe Error 10559 investigation - looking for tips

Ok, so I'm receiving a Failsafe error 10559 when trying to start a listener I added. FS-10559 Failed processing Oracle home information for the given path Cause: The operation cannot process the Oracle home information for the specified path. Action: Make sure that the Oracle home information in the Windows registry is correct. Also make sure that the specified home is part of the Windows path.

I created a separate group but it still doesn't like it so I'm wondering if anyone else might have seen this error?

I saw on one message board that security on the 2nd oracle home was an issue so I'm working that angle at the moment.

Any insights are much appreciated.
