I can't find a link to the "help my database is hung!" paper any longer via google.

A quick hang analyze at level 4 will get you started with the smallest size trace file to have to review.

alter session set tracefile_identifier='here_i_am'; alter session set events 'immediate trace name hanganalyze level 4'; alter session set tracefile_identifier='';
