Hi,

haven't set up an active data guard myself until now, but what I can see from the documentation is that there, the "alter database open" is specified without the read only. might give that a try. reference: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17022/manage_ps.htm#CHDGJEFF
