Lets assume the latter as if it was the former this question would be pointless and simply "recover database" would solve the "problem" and 20 seconds with google will tell you that.

Also, Norman's recomendation will probably fail with a "Fuzzy Database" error which is why you need to set the hidden parameters I (didn't) mention and open the database allowing corruption.
