Oracle specific patches for RHL 5.0

Folks,
If one implements Oracle RDBMS on RHL 5.0, are there any Linux patches that Oracle recommends applying (for DB optimization, etc.) on top of the RHL distribution? If yes then are they available from RHL or Oracle? I am asking this because we are looking at RHL and not OEL and it is my understanding that OEL includes some additional optimizations for Oracle. Any feedback will be appreciated.
