Subject: RE: Linux with Windows interface ?

Linux has window managers as gnome and kde, which resemble windows close enough. And you can use a free tool such as nx nomachine (http://www.nomachine.com/) to "takeover" the server, as you would with mstsc

Editing files can be done with gedit (when using gnome) or kate (when using kde).

Also, have a look at http://www.oracle-base.com/ for installation guides on how to install Oracle on linux.
