Chris,

Oracle recently changed their support stance for RAC on VMWare from "We do not support it" to "We have not certified the platform so reserve the right to blame the platform and ask you to reproduce on real hardware" - i.e they brought it into line with the rest of their products. One strategy available if you go down this route is to include a physical host in the cluster specifically for reproducing the issue (or else a dataguard cluster on physical hardware as a standby)
