well, the database is the only thing running on the box, so there are no others to estimate. With regards to the PGA and SGA, I've got my PGA on automatic and it runs at about 500 megs, with the SGA pushin about another 800megs.
So, I'm contemplating about 1 gig for PGA and about 3 gig for SGA. The, do a lot of AWR work and such to see how it is doing stats wise, and watch the users feedback.

Robert,
can you try to estimate how much memory you can utilise for other things?
I'd try to provide as much PGA for all your processes to avoid any temp segments. (this is not that easy as it sounds right now)
Maybe this limits the max possible SGA for you.

I have 24 gig of ram on the new box. From a data aspect, that will darn near load my entire database to memory.
So, in setting SGA_TARGET, how much is too much? Before I was told the box specs, I was thinking 3 gig. But, with 24 gig available, and I'm the ONLY application on the box....how much is to much?
What are the benefits and cons to setting this value at say, 12gig, with a SGA_MAX value of 15G.
