Personally, I've never done it. I'd expect it to work.

But, I have to ask, why bother? Why the added (unnecessary?) complexity?

I am planning to use customized ASM name +ASM_XP0053 ( where xp0053 is the server name) instead of the default +ASM

Does this have any disadvantage .
