Need some guidance on memory config in 11g. Is this a failure/bug of AMM? The db runs fine if I set a shared_pool_size.
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production running on a redhat 4 guest to Oracle VM. The redhat OS has 4G "real" memory.
memory_target=262144000
test1.__shared_pool_size=121634816 (per dbca)
SQL> show parameter shared_pool_size;

system conf:
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production running on a redhat 4 guest to Oracle VM. The redhat OS has 4G "real" memory.
init.ora:
memory_target=262144000
test1.__shared_pool_size=121634816 (per dbca)
so the shared pool = 0 per AMM:
SQL> show parameter shared_pool_size;
NAME TYPE VALUE
------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------
shared_pool_size big integer 0
errors:
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 3896 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool",
"select substrb(dump(val,16,0...","sga heap(1,0)","kglsim object batch")
Thanks for your comments.
