I feel your pain Niall, especially the last sentence regarding clearing alerts when the problem had gone away. When I asked an Oracle OEM expert why they did not have an easy mechanism to clear unwanted alerts I was told it was because Oracle manages them itself.
We are rolling out the latest and greatest but have not had to move to 11gEM yet (we were advised not to go there for a while). I think many of our problems are because
- We use HPUX which is not widely used for OEM
- We have the temerity to run OMS and database on the same server
Yes, I know all of the above are fully supported combinations but Oracle seem to feel it is a stick to beat us with.
I am certain that we have raised more OEM SRs in the last year than the total of core database (not application issues) for the whole estate over the same period.
I have so many gripes about OEM that it is not true
