The original job description sounds like they want a consultant, but need them on payroll rather than pay the appropriate rates.
They are using some reasonably bleeding edge technology ala exadata and
have had Oracle sell them the kitchen sink(see this quote)
"getting our group up to speed on ASM, RAC and DataGuard plus developing
SOP's/guidelines for this new platform"
So they know little about these technologies, as they were/are running
SQL server.
Quick comment which is bound to get the wind up people here, the more databases you are expert at, the more employable you are. So this role if you are comfortable with both Oracle and SQL server, you are more employable then someone who only knows one of them.
