What Oracle error did you actually get at "line 1"? It might help.

Toad is pretty much almost nearly identical to SQL*Plus when running scripts with the F5 key but not when running statements with the F9 key. Which one did you use?

As Rich mentioned, you might get a better response over on the Toad groups at Yahoo - the developers hang out there too. Best mention the version of Toad that you are using as well.
