Thanks to Jared's advice (in that MV's relate to an actual underlying table - oops, my bad, guess I really should read more.....), it is as simple as the way I normally use for doing regular tables. Tested this morning and works great

I know it can be done for tables but after looking around on Google this morning, I cannot see anywhere which states that you can import statisitics for these objects. Is it possible and if so could you point me to some docs please.
