we did also run into the issues described in #302801.1, tho we had "only" 10s of thousands of files in $OH/rdbms/log (9i-10g, HP-UX, no async). Found that note by searching ML for the contents of the file - perhaps that'd work for you too ?

Funny thing with #302801.1 is that it puts files there despite the *_dump_dest parameters being defined.
