We are on 10.2.0.4.0 and using LGWR. Never have issues.

SERVICE=ups1 LGWR SYNC AFFIRM VALID_FOR=(ONLINE_LOGFILES,PRIMARY_ROLE) DB_UNIQUE_NAME=ups1
