create_table_cost

Now I have an issue with the create_table_cost procedure. I have executed it for a table and got the following results (oracle 10.2.0.3)

used - 11141112
allocated - 1114112

That seem to indicate that there is no space wasted associates with this table

But when I queried dba_segments select sum(bytes/1024)/1024 from dba_segments where segment_name = and owner = I got 2785280 - or more than twice the size that I received from create_table_cost. What is the reason for this discrepancy?
