Ahhh...welcome to AIX! My biggest hangup in going to it was "Where's the kernel recommendations?" in the Oracle Install guide, like with Solaris or Linux.

With AIX, those kernel parameters are dynamic and do not need adjusting. While not in the kernel, you will need an environment variable set (e.g. on login):

export AIXTHREAD_SCOPE=S

(adjust for your particular shell/environment, if needed)

Metalink 458403.1 should help explain that one, recommended for Oracle versions 9.2 and up.
