Good to know your problem is about to resolve.
I would have preferred to install nebackup with different user AND WITHIN the same GROUP DBA for better managibility etc..

Thanks a ton for your quick replies.
Actually the netbackup binaries were installed by storage team in path /usr/openv/netbackup and also i see they have created soft link of libobk.so to /usr/openv/netbackup as shown below. 

i believe relinking oracle binaries might slove the issue.


There are 2 instances running and it was running when they have installed netbackup binaries/



bash-2.05$ ls -ltr /opt/app/oracle8i/products/817/lib/libobk.so
lrwxrwxrwx   1 oracle8i dba           36 Dec 23 16:24 /opt/app/oracle8i/products/817/lib/libobk.so -> /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/libobk.so.1

1) was the instance and databse running while installing netbackup
2) is the instance and database running  now
3) primafacie it seems to be just an issue of environement variable or some soft links only

Hi Guru's 

I'm facing this problem in oracle 8i Dev database running on solaris, this we are facing after installing netbackup binaries. i have to do clone by shutting down the database to validate the netbackup.

Please suggest should i kill the instance and relink of libraries would solve my problem. I checked in metalink but did not get any help.
Please help me on this
