Have you checked for a change in the explain plan? I think that's by far the most common cause of sudden and drastic changes in the performance of an individual query.
One quick way to find out - if you have a diagnostics pack license - is to run $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/awrsqrpt.sql

We have a query that began taking a long time about a week ago. The program, in SAP, ran for 10 - 15 minutes but is now taking about 6 hours
