Did you create an application to protect with that new vip? What's the application status? What's crs_stat -t saying? Did you put the application onto all nodes? And I think your vip2-1 should be bound to eth0, rather than eth1? Unless you are using eth0 for your priv-vip instead of using it for public?

And can you stop/start the vip and the app?

Subject: Additional VIP in RAC

Does anyone have any experience creating extra VIP's for applications using RAC? I've created some extra VIP's by following the instructions in this link:

http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/rac.102/b14197/crschp.htm# sthref1042

When I reboot the nodes my VIP's come back up without any problems. The just seem to be very flaky and will not restart on command for some reason. Here is the crs_stat output for my new VIP:

NAME=vip2-1
TYPE=application
ACTION_SCRIPT=/apps/oracle/product/10.2/crs/bin/usrvip ACTIVE_PLACEMENT=1
AUTO_START=restore
CHECK_INTERVAL=60
DESCRIPTION=vip2-1
FAILOVER_DELAY=0

FAILURE_INTERVAL=0
FAILURE_THRESHOLD=0
HOSTING_MEMBERS=lepfrdb01

OPTIONAL_RESOURCES=
PLACEMENT=favored
REQUIRED_RESOURCES=
RESTART_ATTEMPTS=0
SCRIPT_TIMEOUT=60
START_TIMEOUT=0
STOP_TIMEOUT=0
UPTIME_THRESHOLD=7d
USR_ORA_ALERT_NAME=
USR_ORA_CHECK_TIMEOUT=0
USR_ORA_CONNECT_STR=/ as sysdba
USR_ORA_DEBUG=0
USR_ORA_DISCONNECT=false
USR_ORA_FLAGS=
USR_ORA_IF=eth1
USR_ORA_INST_NOT_SHUTDOWN=
USR_ORA_LANG=
USR_ORA_NETMASK=255.255.255.0
USR_ORA_OPEN_MODE=
USR_ORA_OPI=false
USR_ORA_PFILE=
USR_ORA_PRECONNECT=none
USR_ORA_SRV=
USR_ORA_START_TIMEOUT=0
USR_ORA_STOP_MODE=immediate
USR_ORA_STOP_TIMEOUT=0
USR_ORA_VIP=10.0.1.27

When I manually run crs_stop's and crs_start's of my VIP, it attempts on all 3 nodes and usually fails. I say "usually" because the odd time it will work. The logs aren't very helpful either because they just list the following info:

2008-11-18 14:18:11.810: [ CRSRES][1407371584]0Attempting to start

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
