Right answer.  

I also strongly recommend you install, run and learn to interpret RDA output.  

If you still have issues, you will be ready to present them to Oracle or anyone else doing in depth analysis, if the answer isn't immediately obvious.

We have a 3-tier application and in some installations, the customer is responsible for DB installation/upgrades. There have been times that we have found issues in the DB installation which make the application come to a crawl.  

Is there any automated tool or a list of things to check to see if a DB installation (RAC or otherwise) is in decent condition and none of the obvious things are missing?
