Tim,

This is excellent. As Jared said, start from an older version and improve it locally, and learn along the way.

As someone else mentioned, will go thru RDA also.

Thanks,

Pradeep,

Search MetaLink for the RDA overview (note #314422.1) -- the RDA version for RAC merits its own note #359395.1.

One portion of RDA is the "health check validation engine" (HCVE) which is documented in MetaLink note #250262.1, which will explain how to run the RDA script with the "-T hcve" option, which will then provide a list of validation scripts depending on whether you are checking the RDBMS, app server, portal, etc.

The old "validate.pl" scripts are still available for download, and while these have the advantage of being easier to install and run, they are also no longer maintained and are quite out-of-date (i.e. 2004-2006 timeframe is most up-to-date).

Hope this helps...

We have a 3-tier application and in some installations, the customer is responsible for DB installation/upgrades. There have been times that we have found issues in the DB installation which make the application come to a crawl.

Is there any automated tool or a list of things to check to see if a DB installation (RAC or otherwise) is in decent condition and none of the obvious things are missing?

Thanks,
