We have a Production database and an online Auxiliary copy database.

I recently changed the UNDO tablespace in our production database, without renaming the UNDO tablespace in the auxiliary database. Suddenly our RMAN duplicate commands starting failing with "Incorrect Function" errors.

Checking the Logfile of the auxiliary database yielded the answer about being unable to find the "UNDOTBS1" - instance terminated.

It makes sense when I found it, but I didn't think about it ahead of time. Of course our auxiliary database is used for daily reporting purposes so we had several end-users yelling about not being able to generate reports till we determined the problem.

So just thought I'd pass that along if you ever run into this.
