Glad you found it, Raj. Having a trigger that performs the same function, can you tell us how many objects the trigger's pinning? Also, how big are they (e.g. from v$db_object_cache.sharable_mem)?

On a 8-way p550, my startup trigger uses a table to pin 13 packages totaling about 2MB, and the startup delay isn't really noticable.
