RE: Insert into remote table from Read only database

Distributed transactions take DX locks and use undo entries so how about converting the database to Read/Write and converting each user data tablespace to Read Only. I would think, though I have not tested, this would work as a workaround to the problem.

I have a suspicion that even pulling data will not work. It won't hurt to try it, but I have seen select statements across a dblink that issued distributed locks in the source database, and this might not be allowed in a RO database.

Could you go the other way? Create a link from the RW database to the RO database and do an "insert into select from @RO"?
