Hi Rajeev,

Many thanks for your reply.

Do you have a record of what your IO workload is please when the system is sluggish? i.e. 5,000 IOPS or 150MB/s

Cheers

Subject: Re: Oracle 10gR2 RAC on NetApp Fibre

Hello Dev,

We have had at least two set of experiences w/NetApp (FAS920) storage/redhat
linux in the past :

  1. netapp filer w/nfs (data warehouse - 10.2.0.2) - redhat 3. - Sluggish from our standpoint. - Raid 4 with double parity disks and one spare, 25 disk stripe plus 2 parity plus 1 spare=28 disks
  2. netapp filer w/iscsi (dev database - 10.2.0.3) - redhat 4. - Not as sluggish as the prior setup, however, developers weren't excited about it.

Also, it appeared to us that as the Filer got more and more filled up, the performance
started deteriorating.
