RE: How to restore Archive files from old Rman backup.

Hopefully you're using controlfile autobackups (I always recommend this, especially if you're not using a recovery catalog), in which case you can just follow the steps here to restore from autobackup:

You'll want to use the SET UNTIL clause to set the window you want RMAN to search for autobackups.
