As I recall, the message was sent directly to mail accounts rather than to the listserv which upset a few folks because it appeared to be more of a spamming activity based on trolling the list. Mark wrote a message indicating it was an error and I think we all accepted that apology as such. Things happen. I have not objections to a post on the list for an open job at all, as I've made an occasional one at times.

The LDS Church is looking for DBA's. You must be LDS to apply (please don't write to me and tell me I'm breaking the law. A church can choose to hire members of it's own faith. Look it up if you don't believe me).

DWC Inquiry

The practice of allowing recruiters and
others to post to the list is something that has been permitted for a number of years and I see no reason to stop it. That is so long as the people posting the messages make them short, sweet, and non-intrusive. I like the idea that most of the posters of this type of message seem to use similar wording in the subject which makes it easy for most e-mail programs rule engines to handle them as the receiver desires. I see no reason for the list to change this policy especially since the amount of postings has remained small (as in less than 1 a week). I do know of at least a couple of list members who have benefited from these postings so I guess we could call them a “public service” or a “membership benefit”. The list has also for years promoted the judicious use of the “delete “ button for all postings that an individual finds unacceptable and that is a policy I fully support and practice. Consequently I find no fault in Mark’s posting and no reason to flame him for it.

Sorry, this was a mistake. The email was not meant to be sent to the list.
