More seriously redo log size has nothing whatsoever to do with the SGA size, and really rather a lot to do with your rate of redo generation.

Steve Adams has written about log buffer sizing at http://www.ixora.com.au/tips/tuning/log_buffer_size.htm and whilst some of the details may have changed a bit since then, the base message of that article is still correct in my opinion.
